Please join us for iftar and special programs for the night of 23rd of Ramadan, Thursday Sept. 2, 2010. This is Night of Destiny or Measures (Laylat Al-Qadr).
Program starts with Maghrib Prayer at 7:50 pm, iftar, lecture in English by
Dr. Hamid Mavani special prayers and rituals for the Laylatul al-Qadr.
The topic of the lecture is "Centrality of Justice (‘adalah and qist) in the Qur’an: Individual and Social Domains".
Dr. Hamid Mavani is Assistant Professor of Religion, Islamic Studies at the
School of Religion, Claremont Graduate University. He has been active at
the academic and community level in promoting interfaith dialogue,
inter- and intra-Muslim dialogue, religious pluralism, civil society,
democratic governance, reform in the Islamic legal tradition, gender and
religion, and environmental ethics. His primary fields of interest
include Islamic legal reform, Muslims in America, Twelver Shi’ism,
Qur’anic studies and Contemporary developments in the Muslim world.
