The Center’s
building was built in 1908 as a Scottish Rite Temple. It is one of the
finest examples of Mission Revival architecture.
The Center has a main lecture hall
with a seating capacity of 500 people.
It is among Oakland’s finest interior spaces. Moreover, the Center
has a dinning hall that can accommodate up to 400 people and with a
large
kitchen equipped with ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and a variety of
cooking
equipment.
The Center has several smaller lecture rooms with various
capacities well suited for holding large classes and workshops.
Additionally, the Center has five
classrooms that are ideal for holding small classes. The Center’s prayer
hall
has capacity for up to 250 people.
The Center’s parking lot has spaces for 35 vehicles. Moreover, public
parking is just one block away from the Center.
All of the Center’s facilities are available for rent. The
Center is ideally located in downtown Oakland near beautiful Lake
Merritt, only a few
blocks away from several hotels, two BART Stations (Oakland
12th Street and Lake Merritt Stations), and highways 880, 580, and 24.
