Finding Common Ground through Words: An Interfaith Art Exhibit
We seek artwork that incorporates words, text or letters and that expresses a commitment to interfaith understanding, coexistence, peace and cultural exchange. We seek creative ways to depict these values.
Artists from all faiths, persuasions and cultures are invited to participate.

Art Exhibit celebrating diversity and common ground through words..
Open to artists 18 years of age or under from around the world.
The mission of this EXHIBIT is to help kids participate in creating a society that is inclusive for all.
We seek original artwork including painting, drawing, calligraphy, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textile art, digital art and mixed media.
All artwork must be the original creation of the artist submitting the artwork and should include some text or letters (any language).
Entries will be judged on their relevance to theme, creativity and quality of execution by a committee representing the Faith Trio congregations. Up to 2 pieces of art from each artist may be submitted.
Artwork must be ready to display. In order to be accepted all flat artwork MUST be suitably framed or otherwise ready for display.
The exhibit will take place May 2013, at the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California, 1433 Madison Street., Oakland, 94612. A reception will be held Saturday, May 11, 6 – 9 pm, for the artists, the Faith Trio communities, and the general public. The exhibit and opening reception will be publicized through the local media and the three congregations.

Background:
The Faith Trio consists of three congregations in Oakland, California, linked to each other as representatives of the three Abrahamic faiths of Islam, Judaism and Christianity. For the past eleven years, we have joined together for interfaith events and dialogue. We have shared worship services and harvest celebrations. We seek to learn from each other, enrich our understanding of our respective faiths and traditions, and to acknowledge and accept our similarities as well as our real differences.
Juried Exhibition:

Submission Requirements:

The subject line of the email should contain:
ARTIST NAME, ENTRY #(1-5), TYPE OFMEDIA (oil painting, ink drawing, etc.)
List the following information in the body of the email:
• Name of Artist
• Phone Number of Artist
• Street Address of Artist
• Email address of Artist
• Title of Artwork
•Media
• Dimensions of Artwork in inches (Height x Width x Depth)
• Weight of artwork if greater than five lbs.
• English translation of any non-English text in artwork
• Artist Statement describing the artwork and what inspired its creation, along with Artist Bio if desired. Maximum 300 words for Artist Statement and Artist Bio combined.
• If the Artist is affiliated with Montclair Presbyterian Church (MCP), Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC), or Kehilla Community Synagogue, please specify. Affiliation is not required to be in this exhibit.
Attach a jpeg digital photograph of the artwork to your email. Send a separate email with attachment for each piece of artwork submitted. Up to five submissions per artist. Please send all your submissions on the same day.
There is no cost to submit artwork for this exhibit.
Artists selected for the exhibit will be notified of acceptance by March 31, 2013. Dates to deliver and pick up artwork and date of reception will be announced.
The artwork will bedisplayed in a safe and secure location, and the exhibit organizers will handle the artwork with care. However, the artwork will not be insured and the artist understands that the artwork is loaned at risk of the artist. Images of artwork submitted may be used to publicize this exhibit.
